Firefly has a very interesting story. Joss Whedon was the writer and director. It premiered on September 20, 2002 on Fox.
Firefly actually didn’t air in the order that the creators intended it too, which added some confusion for the viewers. Sadly, this show was only allowed to air 11 episodes (they filmed 14) before Fox decided to cancel it because they weren’t making enough money to keep the show running.
Fans of the show called themselves “Browncoats”. They organized many campaigns to save the show, but they were unsuccessful. Even though it was cancelled, this is still a very popular show with lots of fans. It won the Emmy for “Outstanding Special Visual Effects for a Series”. I was introduced to this show a couple of years ago and was instantly in love!
Firefly has the basic sci-fi theme with the two fighting groups, the Rebels and the Alliance. The main characters are Captain Malcolm Reynolds, Zoe, Wash, Jayne, Shepherd Book, Inara, Kaylee, River, and Simon. These 9 criminals and fugitives fly around in their ship, Serenity, trying to keep away from the Alliance and, of course, keep a look out for Reavers. With complications and jobs thrown their way, these unlikely allies fly through space, and no power in the ‘verse can stop them!
